Ksamil, Saranda and the Blue Eye from Durrës: is the long day trip worth it?
Updated October 26, 2026 · 5 min read
It is worth it only if one very long day is your sole chance to see southern Albania. The Saranda, Ksamil, Blue Eye and boat day trip lasts 15–17 hours, starts at €25 and has 3,945 reviews. That is excellent reach for the price, but not a relaxed beach day.
What fits into the day
The appeal is obvious: coast, resort town, spring and a boat element in one booking. The cost is time in the vehicle and a fixed schedule at every stop. “Ksamil” in the title does not mean an unhurried afternoon on the sand. Confirm the pickup time, return estimate and boat inclusion on the booking page.
Bring what you need for both a long road journey and outdoor stops. Seasonal traffic can affect the rhythm, so avoid planning a dinner reservation immediately after the advertised return.
When the tour makes sense
Book it if you are based in Durrës, cannot move accommodation and value seeing several southern highlights over depth. It can also work as an introduction before a future longer stay.
Do not book it if long transfers spoil the day, if swimming time is the priority, or if children struggle with late returns. Staying in Saranda or Ksamil gives the coast the time it deserves.
The honest verdict
This trip is a sampler, not a substitute for several nights in the south. Compare other day trips from Durrës if 15–17 hours sounds excessive. For travellers with exactly one free day and plenty of stamina, the southern Albania day trip delivers remarkable range. Everyone else should save Ksamil and Saranda for a separate stay.
